About the Triton Mock Trial Foundation

We’re an independent 501(c)(3) that removes financial barriers so UC San Diego students can compete at the highest level of collegiate mock trial—today and for years to come.

We fund the unglamorous (but essential) parts of competition so students can focus on advocacy—travel, tournament fees, materials, and need-based support.

Flights, ground transport, and hotel rooms for multi-day tournaments across the country.

Tournament Fees

Registration costs and hosting expenses so teams can secure competitive schedules.

Exhibits, binders, technology, and professional coaching resources.

Microgrants to reduce out-of-pocket costs for students with financial need.

Our story

The Foundation was created by alumni and friends who believe experiential learning should be accessible, not gated by personal finances. We’re here to make sure talented students can train, travel, and compete—regardless of background.

Milestones

  1. June 2024 — Incorporated

    Articles of Incorporation filed with the State of California.

  2. 2024 — Bylaws adopted & Board seated

    Initial board meeting, adoption of bylaws, and Statement of Information filed.

  3. 2024 — EIN obtained

    IRS Employer Identification Number issued.

  4. 2025 — Public launch

    Donor portal and website launched; first grants budgeted.

FAQ

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes. We’re organized as a public charity. You’ll receive a receipt for your records.

Do you fund individuals or the team as a whole?

Both. We underwrite team expenses and may offer need-based microgrants to reduce individual costs.

How can I volunteer?
